A rare and highly productive hot pepper with a fascinating history; traced back to African-American painter Horace Pippin in 1944. The peppers display a remarkable color transformation as they ripen. Long, rounded pods grow 6 to 7 inches, with their flavor maturing alongside their color—the deep red peppers are sweeter and more robust than the violet.
